Show Details Shared Note: - Earl and Evelyn live in Mission, B.C. (1998). Earl retired as a Sergeant from the RCAF in 1957. He served in WW II and returned from overseas as a Flying Officer after 14 months as a Prisoner of War in Germany, which included 30 days on one of the dreaded death marches where he saw 57 of his fellow prisoners killed by the Royal Air Force who mistook them for a column of German soldiers. Those were very dark days for all who were there.

Earl died in his sleep at home in Mission, BC on September 28, 2008.

The name Gillcash is a derivative of the original name that came from Scotland in 1786. Earl's great great grandfather Augustus C. Kilcash's only son, Augustus, changed the name to Gilcash around 1841 and in the 1890s his grandfather, Augustine, changed it to Gillcash when he married his grandmother.
